This year we had over 200 students from Year 3 to Year 13 participating in the ICAS Mathematics competition on Tuesday 14 August.
In our rapidly changing world, it is becoming more and more important for young people to develop strong skills as they progress through their education. While our curriculum-based assessments test a student’s ability to recall what they have learned in a variety of subject areas, in the Maths Faculty we think it’s important to set secondary students up for the bigger challenges of tertiary study and their future careers.
Therefore, we have implemented the ICAS assessment, a comprehensive skills-based assessment programme that assesses the higher order thinking and problem-solving skills of students. ICAS is a product of University of New South Wales (UNSW). We believe ICAS will give us a deeper insight into our students’ true capabilities and help us plan more effectively for their futures.
