It is that time of the year when Years 10, 11 and 12 select their subject options for next year. 2019 opens up a new academic pathway with the introduction of the IB Diploma Programme and a wider range of subjects within the Cambridge Assessment pathway, so there is a lot to think about.
To support families with making decisions for next year, a Course Planning Evening is being run on Wednesday 6 June in the school gymnasium from 6pm till 8pm. This is a drop-in evening where families can speak directly to senior teachers of both Cambridge courses and IB courses. There will also be representatives from New Zealand and Australian universities to speak about their programmes. Deans and senior managers will be available to assist with course planning.
In addition to the Course Planning Evening, there are resources available on myACG in the ACG Parnell College course to assist with course and subject selection. There are two option books available, one for Cambridge and one for IB. These outline each of the pathways and give detailed information about subject content, prerequisites and subject assessment.
This week students will be bring home their option forms and we ask that these are completed and returned before the end of the term. Please feel free to contact the Deans and senior managers if you require more help and advice with subject selection.
