Australian Mathematics Competition

This is the first year of has participating in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC).  103 students from Year 7 to Year 13 take part in the competition on Thursday 1 August.

The Australian Mathematics Competition is a competition run by the Australian Mathematics Trust for students from Year 3 up to Year 12 in Australia, and their equivalent grades in other countries.  Since its inception in 1976 in the Australian Capital Territory, the participation numbers have increased to around 600,000, with around 100,000 being from outside Australia.  This makes it the world’s largest mathematics competition.

ACG Parnell College students performed very well.  Overall, we received 1 Medal, 2 Prizes, 8 High Distinctions and 30 Distinctions.

Congratulations go to our Year 9 Brian (Bu Fan) Zhao, Medal winner and Year 7 Daniel Xian and Year 9 Yvonne Wang, Prize winners.  All three recipients will receive their award at the AMC Award Ceremony, NZAMT16 Conference, Wednesday 2 October 2019 in Wellington.
