Book Week is happening in week 5 of this term. The theme is “Come Alive”.

Events for the week include the following:
Monday: Inter-Class Creative Writing Competition
Student representatives from middle school tutor groups will compete in a creative writing competition. Entries will then be up in the SIC to be judged by seniors. Winners will be announced at the end of the week.
Monday: Inter-Year Book Review Competition (Launch)
The library has a new online public access catalogue (OPAC) (http://nz.accessit.online/ACG01) that allows students to search the school library catalogue, search well-respected digital databases and manage their own library accounts. This book review competition is a great incentive to poke around our library OPAC and learn to use it.
Students are to write book reviews on our OPAC. Details of the competition will be given later. A totem pole for each year level will indicate the progress of this book review competition; the more reviews written, the taller the pole. Students are encouraged to help with decorating their poles, which will be in the SIC. We will launch the competition during Book Week and it will stretch over a few weeks.
Monday to Friday: Totem Pole Decoration – Hands-on Activity
Students can help to make simple paper craft to decorate their respective totem poles. The aim is to have the tallest, most well-decorated totem poles!
Tuesday to Thursday: Book Fair
Books at a discounted rate will be for sale in the SIC during break times.
Friday: Mufti Day – Book Character Dress-up
Students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character. In support of Environment Week, donations collected will go to Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand..
