Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The Cambridge International exams have finished. I am sure that brings a sigh of relief to many of us, especially our students who can now look forward to a long and well deserved break. I would like to thank all the staff involved in the supervision and organisation of these exams, especially our Associate Principal Ed Coup who is our Cambridge exam manager. Congratulations must also go to our students who did everything they were asked to in terms of examination organisation and rules. It really has been a very smooth process.
Last week we filed our official sports participation data with College Sport. This is a standardised analysis that all schools complete so that New Zealand Secondary Schools Sport can gain an overall picture of secondary sporting involvement in New Zealand. The analysis is for Years 9 to 13 and has carefully defined parameters as to what constitutes sporting engagement. I was delighted to see that we had increased from 62% to 76%! This is a very high figure indeed for a secondary school and credit must go our sports coordinator Martin Jonas for all his enthusiasm and organisation. We have achieved this whilst maintaining our academic focus – central to all we do. We know that busy children who engage strongly with the school tend to be more successful so I am very pleased to see this high level of participation. Thank you, parents, for all of your support with our sport, music, drama and other co-curricular activities.
