Congratulations to the 17 Parnell students who took part in the NASP National Archery Competition hosted in the school gym on Saturday 8 September. Many of our shooters have only been introduced to archery this term as part of the Year 9 Archery unit in Physical Education and this was their very first competition. For the actual competition, students were scored on six rounds of shooting. Five arrows were shot per round, consisting of three rounds at 10 metres and 3 rounds at 15 metres and a possible perfect score of 300 points. Our top shooter was Thomas Julyan, scoring 253 pts and placing second overall, 8 points behind the winner from Mahurangi College. Dean Collett placed third in the Senior boys. Diya Chillivuri was very unlucky, but achieved well, coming second in the Senior girls by 1 point with a score of 230 points. Congratulations to Calvin White who won the Junior boys category with a score of 230 and Jamie Lahood who placed third in the Junior boys competition. Well done also to Monica Zhou who placed second, Jocelyn Ip and Gauri Raj who placed third in the Junior girls competition.
