Otago Junior Mathematics Competition

This is our first year participating in the Otago Junior Mathematics Competition.  We had 69 students from Year 9 to Year 11 taking part in the competition on Wednesday 3 April.

The competition is for students in Years 9 to 11, and it was initiated in 1985 by Professor Derek Holton of the University of Otago Mathematics and Statistics Department.  The competition attracts around 10,000 entries from about 250 participating schools each year.

ACG Parnell College students have performed very well.  Overall, we had 1 Prize winner placed 2nd, 5 Prize winners placed in the Top 30 and 7 Prize winners placed in the Top 100.
