Wellbeing series for students continues – Years 9 and 10

Earlier in the year outside agency The Parenting Place came into school to present their “Attitude” seminars to Year 7 (on friendship) and Year 8 (on the safe use of technology).  In the next two weeks, we continue our wellbeing focus by providing specific seminars to Year 9 and 10 students.  Below you will find an overview of the topic for each of the year groups.  Should you wish to discuss any of this further, please contact the appropriate year Dean.

Year 9 : Hardwired
This presentation takes a strengths-based look at some of the issues and needs that affect decision-making around drugs and alcohol. Also covered are:  ideas on how to deal with peer pressure; assessment of risk; making positive life-choices;  and advice on where to seek help if things get tough.

Year 10 : Sex With Attitude
This presentation focuses on the emotional and social aspects of sexuality and provides a decision-making guide to relationships. The programme covers the benefits of postponing sexual involvement and gives clear messages about consent, respect and boundaries. It is designed to empower students by discussing relationship options for their present and future. The seminar will talk about what makes for healthy relationships, myths around sex, contraception, and relationship options.
