After huge anticipation and a little apprehension, the day finally arrived. Thirty-eight Year Six students along with their two teachers and parent helpers arrived at school at 7am on 14 February – an early start for a great adventure! Camp Merc in Long Bay was our destination and when we arrived it was picture perfect. There was no time for rest as we had planned two action-packed days. Run by the camp instructors we all took part in 5 activities; abseiling, archery, surfing/paddleboarding, kayaking and the ultimate, stack- em- high. We truly ‘Reached for the Stars’ as individually and collectively we were challenged, learned to work as a team… relying on and trusting each other, overcame personal fears, and grew in self-belief. The food was great, the weather was great, Year 6’s were great, our helpers were great, the experiences we had were great…what was not to love about this whole adventure? We arrived back to school on Friday afternoon exhausted but totally enriched. Can we go again please?
