On Wednesday 15 August the Year 9’s, as part of the Drug Education topic, were spoken to by a member of the police drug dog force. He spoke about the requirements of his job (the training and searching) as well as the drugs themselves. The drug dog demonstrated how he searches for drugs while the policeman spoke about the dog’s job in the police force. We had two dogs who came to visit, and one of them was New Zealand’s only explosives detective dog and the other was one of New Zealand’s best drug dogs. Overall the year 9’s found this a great experience and highly enjoyed meeting the dogs and understanding what the drug force is like.
